About Us

Meet the Owners

owners of fleet feet appleton

Jeremy and Leah Schapiro, Owner/Operators, were thrilled when the opportunity presented itself in the Summer of 2009 to move back to Wisconsin. Fleet Feet Sports Fox Valley, the third franchise location in the state of Wisconsin, officially opened its doors in November 2009.

Jeremy brings his years of community involvement and Fleet Feet Sports management expertise to Fleet Feet Sports Fox Valley. He has considered graduating from running half-marathon distance events to a future marathon, but in the meantime enjoys selecting races based on the crazy race shirts. Prior to becoming a local business owner, Jeremy worked for the YMCA and the American Red Cross in Youth Programming, Community & Volunteer Programs, and most recently as Director of Operations.

Leah began her involvement with Fleet Feet Sports nearly 15 years ago as a volunteer and active member of her local running community. Seven-time marathon finisher and three-time Ironman, she has enjoyed stepping off the road and onto the shoe floor to trade experiences and ideas. Also new to the business world, Leah previously worked at the United Way in Community Building, met Jeremy at the American Red Cross when she was hired to do Strategic Planning and Program Evaluation, and prior to the career shift to Fleet Feet Sports, spent years in Program Development & Organizational Development.

Jeremy and Leah love engaging in the Fox Cities community and supporting others' fitness goals. In February 2011, they welcomed Lucy Olive, the cutest little Appletonian on the block. She is the joy of their lives and the reason they love to go to work AND to come home each day.

Stop in, say hello, and let Leah and Jeremy show you around the store!

Meet Our Team

At Fleet Feet Sports Fox Valley, we are lucky to have a team that is diverse, motivated, and extremely knowledgeable.  Every employee at Fleet Feet Sports Fox Valley brings a unique perspective to the store, and we hope you are able to get to know them throughout your visits to Fleet Feet Sports Fox Valley!

JENNY BUTLER...spends most of her time educating, chasing, cleaning up after, playing with, cooking for and tickling her two young children. As a family, they all enjoy camping, hiking, biking, playing at parks and visiting museums. Any leftover time is usually devoted to running and reading.

Fondest Running Memory: While she thought the actual experience was pretty terrible, the feeling after finishing her first half marathon in pouring rain and freezing cold winds was definitely euphoric. Jenny realized that she was strong and capable of more than she had ever thought before.

Favorite Event: She doesn’t have a favorite event per se, but her favorite runs are Sunday chit-chat runs with her running buddy.

Advice: "Take breaks when you need them!! Do not pound your body in to the ground for the sake of 'good health'. Your body needs rest days."

KATE GEENAN...loves being with family and friends, attending her kids' concerts and games, coaching at St. Norbert, and volunteering in the community.

Fondest Running Memory: Running as one of the Famous Racing Sausages at Miller Park

Favorite Event: Running her first half-- the 2011 Fox Cities Half Marathon!

Piece of advice/tip for everyone: "Believe you can."

CEDAR HAMILTON (on military leave)...spends most of her free time training for triathlon events or on her family farm (she's an Iowa farm girl). In addition to working at Fleet Feet she runs a small marketing consulting business.

Fondest Triathlon Memory: Coming out of the swim shoot at IM Racine and seeing her fan club with the "Go Cedar" shirts!

Favorite Event: Ironman 70.3 events. These are the perfect distance to push your limits while training but still be able to have a life outside of training :)

Advice: "Just keep moving and progressing toward your goals."

New Team Member & Lead Distance Coach EDDIE HOLZEM...Eddie is often playing taxi to his kids, taking them to different events and practices.  He ALWAYS fits in his daily run and sometimes teaches spin classes at several YMCA's locations (Appleton, Neenah and sometimes Fox West).  He's into creative outlets like graphic design, writing and studying about business related subjects.

Fondest Running Memory: From the storyteller himself..."Two memories stick out in my mind.  The first is winning the 1987 Wisconsin Division 1 state high school cross country title.  It was a classic cross country race and was the last state cross race to be held at Yahara Hills near Madison before it was moved to Wisconsin Rapids where it's currently held.  After the opening mile it became a two-man race and we ran shoulder to shoulder until about 300m to go - very exciting to say the least.  My second most memorable race has to be my experience while competing in the 1996 Olympic Trials for the marathon.  It was such a great experience because I was able to rub elbows with so many runners that I had only previously read about in magazines.  The '96 Trials race is famous for Bob Kempainen throwing up while in full stride and still going on to win the race."

Favorite Event: The UW La Crosse annual Cross Country Alumni Meet every Labor Day weekend

Advice: "What I share with people comes down to three things.  My father taught me, without every saying a word, that hard work will yield the fruits you look to harvest.  The second is that you need to hold in your mind the vision you want to accomplish, in other words, your goal.  You need to visualize and feel, both emotionally and physically, what it's like to already have accomplished what is in your vision.  The third is that you need to celebrate your victories and reward yourself for all of your hard work."

AARON MINZLAFF...is a stay-at-home dad blessed w/ 3 beautiful children and a wonderful wife. He spends most of his time changing diapers, chasing the two older kids, and at the end of the night falling asleep in front of the TV w/ his wife. In his free time you will find him running, biking, and working on remodeling projects around the house.

Fondest Running Memory: He and his dad finishing their first half marathon, the Fox Cities, together.

Favorite Event: The North Face Endurance Challenge trail race @ Kettle Moraine State Park.

Advice: “Slow down your pace and take time to enjoy the small things in life. Those are what you will remember (or miss) the most when you’re crossing the finish line.”

TRACY NOHR...enjoys being outside doing different activities. Some of these activities include biking, running, and camping.

Fondest Running Memory: Her first 5K!

Favorite Event: The Fox Firecracker 5K

Advice: “Do not compare yourself to others. Everyone excels at a different rate. Be proud of yourself for what you have achieved as an individual.”

TIM PERRY...loves being with his wife & new baby boy, running, biking, and snowboarding (when we have snow!).

Fondest Running Memory: Finishing the Scheels Run for Home, going home, & then finding out he got 3rd place in his age group! That and the fact that his dad was there to watch him finish was very cool.

Favorite Event: Reach the Peak 15K

Advice: "Set goals no matter how small they seem. It feels good to reach them even if it's just finishing."

Lead 5K Coach TRICIA ROSCHE...loves to ride her Harley, golf, and relax on the patio (when weather allows) with her husband & pup.

Fondest Running Memory: Watching the emotional faces of the No Boundaries graduates of our programs as they cross the finish line (Lucky for Tricia AND for us she gets to do this time and again!).

Favorite Event: Rock N' Roll Chicago 1/2 Marathon

Advice: "Gradually increase your distance and/or speed. The worst thing you can do is get too excited to be 'fast' and risk injury. Start with a 5K, then try a 10K, maybe a 15K, or half-marathon!"

VAL WYLIE...loves to take long walks and work in her garden.

Fondest Running Memory: Crossing the finish line of the 2009 Fall 50 with fellow team members Linda McDaniel, Sandra Thein, and Sue Erdmann.

Favorite Event: St. Joe’s Run

Advice: “Keep moving, enjoy the fresh air, and make new friends.”
